Ghost Story of the Staircase
A story of my friend's house.

He went drinking with his colleagues on the way home from work, and was unintentionally drinking too much, so that when he finally arrived home it was around 12:00 at night. It seemed like his father and mother were both in bed already, and the light in the entranceway was off. Fumbling around, he unlocked the door and quietly went inside the entranceway, then headed up the staircase to his own room on the second floor, one step at a time.

'That's strange...'
Though he couldn't see well in the darkness, the staircase surely had no end at all. And though he was drunk, something so absurd just couldn't exist. Becoming scared, he forgot that it was late at night and dashed up the stairs, but in spite of that he still didn't reach the second floor.

'What the hell is this...'
Out of breath and wiping his sweat, he looked up, and there was the face of his grandfather who he hadn't seen before. The instant their eyes met, his consciousness faded.

The next morning, he woke up to a violent headache, and was in his own bed.
"Yeah~ Won't you listen to a staircase ghost story? But, it's really scary when you experience it yourself..." he told me, smiling wryly.
<Coach's Wry Smile>
Wasn't it difficult to write a short but good story, Isshi? Although it could originally be settled as a story of a dream, it was tentatively saved with descriptions like running up, wiping his sweat, and being out of breath. Well, there was something pretty much pointless so I'd cut it out and revise it further. To me, you could entirely take out the ineffective "old man" in the last part, but comparing and double-checking with the title, could it be a punch-line of yours? It seems you specifically left this kind of punch-line that isn't necessary. Such things are not only for students, so consider it okay.
