Too Cheerful
My mother's story.
A long time ago. My family would go to a large supermarket on Sundays, and stock up on food and various things for one week. On a certain Sunday evening, after they arrived home from shopping, Mother was grinning an awful lot.
"What's the matter?"
"Well, in fact, I saw a terrific thing!! What could it be~?" With these words, she tilted her head and grinned broadly. Feeling a little anxious I asked her for more, and she told me this story.

She finished up her shopping and returned to the parking lot, and when she inadvertently glanced at the adjacent car, she saw that there was a child around 5 years old, laughing while jumping up and down.
'That looks pretty fun. Huh? But even though he's so merry, I don't hear his voice and there's no crease in the seat... Strange...' Thinking such things, she looked away for one moment to unlock the door to her own car. When she looked over again, the child that was in the car until just now wasn't there.
'Eh!! Where did he go?!' she thought, looking all around but unable to find him.

"That was surely a child ghost!! I saw a remarkable thing!!" She was a little bit excited when she came home. But why was she grinning like that?
"You saw a ghost? Aren't you frightened?" I asked her, and,
"But, it was still evening, so that child was just having a little bit of fun," my mother said, still smiling.

Is that so~ Your love for ghost stories is in your mother's blood, huh? If she wasn't scared then it's not a ghost story, but it's not that only scary things can be ghost stories... I'm saying that, but it's just my style, and surely this is some kind of ghost story, right? Smiling when you encounter something strange... this is a good story, Isshi. Give my thanks to your mother for this one. Incidentally, is the title what you gave when you heard the story itself?
