Castle Tower
A story of Matsumoto Castle.
A few days ago I paid a visit to my parents at my hometown in Nagano, and when we dropped by Matsumoto Castle I remembered a story that my grandmother had told me.
In the distant past, a large-scale uprising occurred in the domain of Matsumoto. As par for the course, you wouldn't expect that farmers can win against samurai. A man named Kasuke, who was the leader of the uprising, was captured and sentenced to crucifixion on the castle grounds. Because of a curse Kasuke let loose in a howl at that time, the castle tower inclined, and to this day that form remains as it is.
I heard this story when I was very young, and ever since that time I have become a captive of this Matsumoto Castle, otherwise known as "Crow Castle." As I recall such things, when I started on this journey and afterward, I've drawn in strange experiences...
