Cherry Blossoms on a Moonlit Night

When I peek at the white-misted moon
When I tire of hazy features in the glass
Distant, far-off memories float by
I recall a fleeting, gentle scene

The slowly swaying sakura petals
Lightly, lightly flutter down
Onto my heart and the wide water's surface
Falling, they flip over
Those days I can never again return to

Washed away by the countless seasons
However much light I lose, it won't disappear
In memories of that time which faintly come to mind
I can hear a weak tone of bells

The slowly swaying sakura petals
Lightly, lightly flutter down
Onto my heart and the wide water's surface
Falling, they flip over
Those days I can never again return to

I waited impatiently behind your large back and cried
We won't meet anymore in a tiny silhouette

The aroma of spring, fruitless flowers blooming in fields
Sunlight through tree branches melts the snow
It's painful if I remember
The times I was waiting for you

The slowly swaying sakura petals
Lightly, lightly flutter down
Onto my heart and the wide water's surface
Falling, they flip over
Those days I can never again return to

Notes:
The title can be read in two ways, both of which are pronounced the same and both of which make sense. Sakura zukiyo is what I went with, but it could also be read as sakurazuki yo, which would mean "A Night of the Third Month,"  桜月 being one of the names for the third month in the lunar calendar. Isshi, ever the ambiguous one...
