The Sal Tree's Lullaby

Blocked by time, I flow with the current
Rotting away, I accepted even my demise
And though my fate grasps my life
I cannot change my heart

Oh powder snow I think of calmly
Don't dissolve my memories just yet

Spring's colours, moved by the wind,
Are wrapping me up like a mother
When I'm rocked and swayed by a nostalgic song
A quiet sigh will rise as I close my eyes

Punished by countless pains
And carving out uneven footprints
My senses, even now, keep drifting
I'm miraculously lead along
Holding tightly to my childhood, I walk
Like a god's fingertips covering my eyes

I welcome the morning of my final moments
The Sal tree gently strokes my cheek

Spring's colours, moved by the wind,
Are wrapping me up like a mother
When I'm rocked and swayed by a nostalgic song
A quiet sigh will rise as I close my eyes

And so, I'll be aware of time passing
Going around and around, it's paradise

Notes:
Sarasouju is a sal tree, and it has significance in Buddhism. The Gautama Buddha was born under a Sal Tree while his mother was grasping its branches, and there were four of the trees growing around Buddha's deathbed. When he passed away, the trees turned white.
