Charisma Sensei Discussion
Isshi edition

Charisma Sensei: Well, Isshi-san, the fanclub has reached its 6 year anniversary. 6 years have flown by, left to memories, so what kinds of things are you thinking about?

Isshi: What do you mean, left to memories?

Charisma Sensei: Various things, right? Trips you went on, lives you performed.

Isshi: A live in December of last year or the year before. It was in Shibaura, do you remember?

Charisma Sensei: That time at Holiday?

Isshi: Yeah. That time was exactly when influenza was spreading badly, and no matter what I thought, I caught it from a fan. (wry smile)

Charisma Sensei:
That's... what you want to complain about?

Isshi: No, that time was harsh... it's something different, not December, but afterward.

Charisma Sensei: Did you arbitrarily catch a cold in your private life?

Isshi: Completely different. Because of that, I had a difficult time at Shibuya Kokaidou on March 3rd.

Charisma Sensei: I guess that was tough. Because I think it might've transfered to me, too.

Isshi: WHAT?

Charisma Sensei: But no, I didn't go to that place...

Isshi: I'm told that it's my fault Ruki (the GazettE Vo.) also caught the flu afterward. But it's a false accusation. Meanwhile I'm thinking "I haven't even met up with you lately, Ruki! (laughs)

Charisma Sensei:
Ahh (laughs) It was a rumour in the office wasn't it? That the cold going around is Isshi-kun's fault... such things like that. Since your condition got worse before the live performance right?

Isshi: Right.

Charisma Sensei: Manage your physical condition!!

Isshi: I intend to but whatever.

Charisma Sensei: Is that so. Well the next one now, what are some of your merits that you want to express?
Isshi: I don't think about my merits. What......

Charisma Sensei: This is how I see it, you have the power to draw everyone in don't you, Isshi? Don't you have power in your words? Those are the points where I think "Wow~"

Isshi: Even though I just think I'll keep singing... ...

Charisma Sensei: Isshi, your style of singing has completely changed from the past hasn't it? The way your voice comes out, and your vibrato.

Isshi: Yeah, it's changing.

Charisma Sensei: I heard about it from Nao-san, but when it comes time to sing the chorus, he  gets to understand your songs and the world of your lyrics, and while playing bass he can sing the parts that aren't the chorus.

Isshi: It's not just me, but I think it's no good if the whole band doesn't have performance strength, you know? Kikuchi-san (manipulator) said it, but when performing as a band no one person is going it alone. In a way we're people who sell performances and songs, so I think that's what we should reach for.

Charisma Sensei: I understand. Well, is there something where you think "I want to fix this about myself"?

Isshi: My teeth. I want to take out my wisdom teeth.

Charisma Sensei: You want to take out your wisdom teeth?

Isshi: Yes, because they hurt.

Charisma Sensei: For that, shouldn't you simply go to the dentist?

Isshi: That's scary.

Charisma Sensei: Isshi, I thought you were only afraid of reptiles, but the dentist is scary too?

Isshi: It's not particularly that it'll hurt, but having to go is scary.

Charisma Sensei: ????

Isshi: Because when I go, I always have to set "what time of what day?" for my next appointment, and on that day I can't go.

Charisma Sensei: Because you might have plans at that time?

Isshi: In addition to that, there are some things about going at fixed intervals too, because it's scary when I can't go. Giving telephone notice to say I can't go is scary. "Sorry, but today I won't really be able to make it so is it ok to cancel?" While I'm saying that, I'm thinking about the other person's feelings, and they must be like, "This guy again." That's scary.

Charisma Sensei: But aren't such things common in this line of work? Suddenly you have to go to work... is there something you really want to fix?

Isshi: (laughs) Characteristically I like collecting things. Because I'm an all or nothing kind of person. When I think I'm going to collect something, it's not that I'll collect it no matter what. I want to fix that. I want the intention to finish incomplete things.

Charisma Sensei: But that's a strong point about you isn't it, Isshi?

Isshi: Is that so... but it's difficult.

Charisma Sensei: I think it's difficult. When you started collecting mini-vehicles for instance, didn't you think you'd collect all of them?

Isshi: Yeah.

Charisma Sensei: And with clothes too, and remote controlled models, right?

Isshi: And what's more, I buy them two at a time.

Charisma Sensei: (snickering) One for collection, and one to play with yourself?

Isshi: That's right. So I spend twice the amount of money. And then I don't even use it. (laughs)

Charisma Sensei: (laughs) So you want to fix that characteristic.

Isshi: Yes.

Charisma Sensei: I understand. Next... Isshi-kun, are there any people you admire now, any people for whom you thought 'I want to be such a person'?

Isshi: Nope. None at all. There are people whom I think are incredible, but I don't think I'd want to be like those people. For example there's Freddie Mercury of QUEEN, there are things I'd want to do like him, but in reality I'd be different. There are a lot of opposites too, so I don't want to be like him.

Charisma Sensei: I see. That might be the case for you, Isshi, that there aren't any people you admire in such a way. No matter what, you're number one.
Isshi: After all, I can't be anyone else.

Charisma Sensei: You could say that. Well, next. Now, what are your most important policies as Isshi-san in the band Kagrra,?

Isshi: As you'd expect it's the spirit of "Wa." I can say it because the members aren't here, but in reality I think it's only me singing of "Wa." What I really mean is, as a Japanese person to the core, I think it's just me that likes to include the good and bad points in "Wa."

Charisma Sensei: Yeah. But, is that okay? (laughs)

Isshi: Is it okay? (wry smile)

Charisma Sensei: I've just been seen as beside Kagrra, since the past, right? But, if I talk about the image I have, Isshi, you seem like a strapping Kyushu lad. And you're stubborn... and if I can say so... you get angry. (laughs)

Isshi: But I don't think I'm stubborn.

Charisma Sensei: I think you've mellowed out since the past. But, Isshi of the past had that calling-card.

Isshi: Even when I get angry now, it's typically because of the situations I'm talking about, so I'll think about next time. Therefore I bottle up various things.

Charisma Sensei: Where do you let those out?

Isshi: Miraculously there's nowhere for that.

Charisma Sensei: You have to deal with it inside yourself.

Isshi: Maybe. I also have my children (pet dogs). Because since I don't talk much at such times, the atmosphere within the band can become tense in an instant.

Charisma Sensei: Ahh. But you don't seem to lately, do you?

Isshi: That's because I'm paying attention.

Charisma Sensei: I see... paying attention?

Isshi: Yeah. At places like rehearsal, when I enter it's like 'doyon' and everyone becomes silent? Because it's not that our members aren't cheerful people, but on the contrary it's a heavy atmosphere and I think "Is that my fault?"

Charisma Sensei: I see, so what you're saying is you make the atmosphere of this place heavy on your own?

Isshi: I consider that a lot.

Charisma Sensei: I've never noticed that...

Isshi: Those kind of situations are increasing! In the past it was inconsequential, but when I don't raise everyone's voltage and we go out to perform, I don't think I can sing good songs.

Charisma Sensei: I see. If I can say something looking on from the side, it's that I think all of the members are together. Isshi, you're a double-edged sword, aren't there times when petty things bring you down with a bang? I think everyone has a sense of that.

Isshi: Is that so? (laughs)

Charisma Sensei: Maybe not though. (laughs) But you've been doing this together for a long time, right? Well, at last, a word for everyone in Auga who is welcoming the 6th year anniversary.

Isshi: Please don't unsubscribe! (laughs)

Charisma Sensei: (loud laugh) Is that really it? But I wanted to say that.

Isshi: Actually it's not just a report, but I think I'm pretty much doing my best. There's no end to human desire but since I think I'm doing my best, I'll say be quiet and wait a little longer. (laughs)

Charisma Sensei: Ahh, I have various things to say but since we're doing our best I'll say I'll wait.

Isshi: Complaints about the band come to me without fail. Therefore I'll say please send all complaints or requests about the FC to Charisma Sensei from now on.

Charisma Sensei: I might disappear......

Isshi: In that case, you can appear by a different name.

Charisma Sensei: (laughs) Actually for me it's a double-edged sword, so if there's something I hate, I'm the type to carry the burden by myself... (wry smile) So don't find fault with me.

Isshi: But if they don't find fault, I think 'Charisma' will become an obsolete word. Every year, don't they leave the "Sensei" off and and put it on something fashionable? Like this year it's Razor Ramon Sensei. (laughs)

Charisma Sensei: Ahh, I see. (laughs) Maybe everyone is steadily losing interest in the existence of charisma.

Isshi: No, I don't think they're losing interest in its existence. Don't treat it so negatively. Everyone, send your requests to Charisma!

Charisma Sensei: I understand. First of all I'll listen to the requests from everyone. But, I'm the type to get a big head when I'm admired...

Isshi: (laughs)
