Reverent Wail

Lives like grains of dust dancing in yellow sand
Why are living people wandering so?

Seemingly worn-out urges are threatening my heart
I might understand, but I'll go on and raise my voice**

Time demands a meaning as the demon cries
Its vast solitude trespassed upon
Like water that gushed forth from a spring that will never dry up
I am now here, turning the sails
Fangs in the wide ocean are locked in combat
Like foliage fighting the darkness in agitated waves

The journey pulls me closer to a tomorrow faint like mist
Transient illusions will be my fate

Time piles up corpses as the demon weeps
Its locked-up despair being stricken
Like wind attacking a rock face that will never erode
I am now here, paddling with two hands
Howls spread across heaven and earth
Like a song being mocked by only the rage of a wild god

The tottering and broken tracks keep going
Where is the light that awaits me at the end of the wasteland?

Are the crumbling torches of life inviting me?
To a sorrowful but bewitching afterlife

Time darkens the lights as the demon plows along
Going against a broken system
Like a moon that will never mourn and eternally sparkles
I am now here, devoting my body***
Scraps of seaweed dancing in space vanish and pass away****
I won't hesitate, lose my mind, worry, give up, or turn back

Time demands a meaning as the demon cries
Time piles up corpses as the demon weeps
Time darkens the lights as the demon plows along
The demon... the demon...

Notes:
*The title is a play on the phrase 鬼哭啾々, which is a term given to the spine chilling wail of a ghost. Isshi changed the last kanji into 愀, which means 'respect'. With this in mind, I took some liberation with the title. Another translation I considered for the title was "Spine-chilling Admiration" because of the feeling I get when I read it.
**"arageru" is "to raise" but Isshi spells it with the kanji for 'crude/vulgar' instead of the normal one.
***Isshi sings "mi" (軀; body) but in the booklet, that kanji is not even printed. sutafairu suggested that having a gap instead of the kanji signifies the disappearance of his body.
****The word for seaweed that he used is "mokuzu" (藻屑) which is also a metaphor for "death at sea." If you consider that the space mentioned in this line is actually the ocean, then it makes a lot of sense.
***** Again, Isshi sings 'oni wa naku' but in the booklet there is no kanji written for 'naku'. You could consider the ellipsis as the 'naku' bit; I'd guess either 無く (to not exist) or 亡く (to die).
