Bluebird
An old story.
From the time my father was young, around year 30 in the Showa era.

The house my father was living in at the time had no bath room in the main building, it was a little bit separate from the property. Therefore, when he went to the bath at night, he had to go outside, but the property was pitch black and he couldn't see underfoot, so before he reached the age of discretion he would have to hold the hand of one of his parents to go there.

In fact it was around then, that he could go there on his own. One night, carrying a bucket and a hand towel as usual, he went to the bath room.

That was when he suddenly saw it, a blue light floating airily in the distance.
'What's that? It's scary...' He stopped without thinking. That light was moving around up and down, left and right, and a little while later it vanished somewhere.
......
'Is it okay now? What the heck was that, anyway...?' he thought, continuing fearfully toward the bath room.
And afterward for some reason, he began to see the blue light more and more frequently.

As a matter of fact he saw it fairly often, so gradually became used to it and wouldn't think of being frightened. Although, it was still on his mind.

Not knowing its true identity, my father went to the bath room with my grandfather one night. There, as you would expect, he saw it lightly floating as usual.
"Hey Dad, what is that? That blue light, it's always there when I go to the bath!"
My grandfather saw it too, and in that instant he was startled and stood stock still, saying, "Ah, that, it's a shining bird that flies only at night. But, you see, you can't go near that. Leave it to go off somewhere. You understand? Don't ever follow it?"
"Hmm~ Such a mysterious bird is in this world~" my father agreed. The light appeared then, but after that he didn't see it anymore and soon forgot about it.

He was still small in those days so he agreed, but if I think about it now that was surely a soul, and Grandfather lied about it so as not to frighten him... Ahh, as much as I want to know the truth, my grandfather has already passed away so there's no way to make sure... Well, it's my father's story.

<Coach's Conjectures>
If it isn't a good story after such a long time. Although it's a long story the flaws are clear, but there are just too many and I don't understand the movement of the heart of it, or the heaviness... that is to say, the balance is bad.

Notes:
Showa year 30 works out to be 1956.
